Since founding Greengrass Engineering and Greengrass Golf Design in 2012, Matt has had the opportunity to work in a freelance capacity with talented architects on several critically acclaimed projects.  The following projects, however, best represent the ideals that we would like to bring to daily fee and municipal golf facilities.  Our involvement in the following projects varied from plan production to civil engineering and site work.

These projects are wonderful examples of public golf that is sustainableaccessible, affordable, promote brisk pace of play and is strategically interesting

iNTEGRATIVE GOLF DESIGN (kEITH rHEBB & rILEY jOHNS, 2016)

hole 8 green.jpg

Quoting from The Integrative golf blog:

http://www.integrativegolfdesigns.com/blog/

"...The new course is reminiscent of a Scottish links courses with tight, rolling, contoured fairways and slightly pushed up green complexes.  The wall-to-wall short cut Bermuda grass... is already starting to firm up, lending itself to interesting ground game shot-making options.   Like Pinehurst #2, the putting surfaces have a slight crown to many of them and bleed off into tight lies in-and-around the greens, presenting fun shot recovery options.

The bunkers... are unique to Winter Park and the style fits beautifully into the parkland setting.  Strategically placed to challenge both the aggressive player and help steer golfing traffic away from "real" traffic, the bunkers function on two separate levels.   Tees are nondescript, many joined into the previous green and flow seamlessly into the next fairway."

From the Staples golf website:

http://www.staplesgolfdesign.com/design/golf-design-portfolio/master-rockwind-community-links.aspx

This is Staples Golf's first "Community Links" project. The existing 18-hole course has been redesigned as the centerpiece of the community, focusing on kids, families and beginner golfers. The course has been designed to embrace the flat nature of the southeastern New Mexico landscape, keeping irrigation to a minimum and the turf fast and firm. The course features fill pad-style greens and flat bottom bunkers placed in a variety of angles that play with a sense of perspective.
